Bush Nominates Surgeon General
Dr. James W. Holsinger, Jr. was nominated by President Bush to become the next Surgeon General of the United States. The Surgeon General is responsible for overseeing the U.S. Public Health Service.
Dr. Holsinger completed his undergraduate education at the University of Kentucky. He has two masters degrees, from the University of South Carolina and Asbury Theological Seminary. He completed medical school training and a doctoral degree at Duke University. His area of practice specialty is cardiology.
He previously served over twenty-five years with Veterans Affairs, as well as participating in the U.S. Army Reserves over a thirty year period.
