VHA Advises Hospitals on Capital Asset Purchases

VHA Inc, a health care provider cooperative of more than 2,400 not-for-profit health care organizations and about 25 percent of American community hospitals, published a white paper to help hospitals with their large capital asset projects. The white paper lists five critical success factors:

  1. Align capital projects with strategic
  2. Balance traditional sources of funding with newest approaches
  3. Assemble the right team
  4. Institute a capital planning process
  5. Communicate your progress

Some of these no doubt seem like stating the obvious, but ideas for diversified sources of funding for instance might prove valuable, as well as specific case studies shared by VHA member hospitals.
