New GE Ultrasound Offers GPS
General Electric Healthcare announced the launch of a new ultrasound system, the Logiq E9, that incorporates technology similar to that used for GPS. An additional feature of the system is the ability to fuse images from other modalities into one unified image.
The new system is primarily intended for use in vascular and radiology applications. The GPS technology incorporated into the system allows tracking, along with marking locations of a patient’s anatomy during exam completion. The fusion capability allows for integration of images procured with PET, CT, or MRI.
Another application is Volume Navigation, which both supports and maximizing the underlying system architecture. The underlying architecture for the system is Agile Ultrasound. This infrastructure includes up-to-date mathematical models that more accurately quantify how sound waves effect tissues of the body.
Scan Assistant is also integrated in the Logiq E9 ultrasound. This allows pre-programming of intended actions during an examination. The machine then completes those during the study completion so that the clinician can focus their attention on the patient.
Additional benefits of Scan Assistant include abbreviation of scanning time by half. The system also automatically inserts comments, steers the color Doppler, organizes imaging control, completes measurements, and sets up imaging controls. An additional benefit is improved ergonomics for those using the system.
