New Lab Analyzer Introduced by Abbott
Abbott Laboratories launched a new tool for low- to mid-volume laboratories, the ARCHITECT i1000SR Analyzer, available from Abbott Diagnostics. A press release was issued by the company describing the new tool. The system is designed for labs that process less than 200 specimens daily.
The system, the newest tool in Abbott’s line ARCHITECT line, allows continuous access to both samples and reagents while the instrument is actively running. As such, the tool supports streamlined workflow and increases productivity in the laboratory. An additional feature to support productivity is a highly efficient system to process samples, less commonly seen among equipment designed for lab facilities with lower volume.
The i1000SR can complete up to 100 tests per hour. 65 different patient samples can be accommodated at any given time and samples can be prioritized in the case of emergent testing. Emergency tests can be completed in less than 16 minutes.
The system includes user-friendly software and can complete a wide range of tests. An additional benefit for lab staff is the minimal maintenance required for system upkeep. The instrument was specifically designed to suit the needs of smaller laboratories, but considered the necessity to maintain workflow.
The simplified system, which incorporates commonly utilized consumables, reagents, and user interfaces, may also be an ideal back-up analyzer system for larger laboratory facilities. The primary components of the i1000SR are the same as with other ARCHITECT instruments, which simplifies testing at different facilities.
Three other new instruments in the ARCHITECT system were also recently launched by Abbott: the ci16200 which is an integrated system to analyze both clinical chemistry and immunoassays, the i4000SR for high volume immunoassay tests, and the c16000 clinical chemistry analyzer.
