Philips Tools Support Patient Care, Workflow
Royal Philips Electronics is showcasing its systems that support patient care at the Nurses’ National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Expo, sponsored by the American Association of Critical Care.
The first system, ProtocolWatch, helps identify warning signs of sepsis. The system monitors for signs and symptoms noted by the Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) protocols. If criteria reaches the threshold defined by SSC, ProtocolWatch notifies the caregiver with a window on the patient monitor to check for other indicators of sepsis.
This system for clinical decision making allows early identification of the life-threatening condition to promote immediate treatment. It also supports workflow by clinicians inundated with information from a variety of machines and tools used in the intensive care setting.
The HeartStart MRx Monitor/Defibrillator allows wireless transmission of cardiac and monitoring information, combined with the capabilities of a defibrillator. The device can be used during patient transport without changing equipment.
Another tool on display is the IntelliVue MP5, a patient monitor that is both portable and wireless enabled. The system works in collaboration with the IntelliVue Cinical Network.
