Point-of-Care Test to Measure HgbA1C Introduced

The in2it Analyzer was released to the market by Bio-Rad Laboratories, the test is designed for point-of-care testing. Launch of the test was described in a press release published by Bio-Rad.

The test measures hemoglobin A1c, which is a key indicator of diabetic glucose control and an important ongoing disease marker in patients with diabetes. The analyzer system is simple and convenient to use, as well as being portable and fully automated. Test results are delivered within minutes of receiving the patient sample.

The availability if immediate results, provided while patients wait, enables treatment modification and patient counseling as needed without requiring additional office visits. Ongoing monitoring of glucose control is a key element in treating patients with diabetes to ensure that the disease control is maintained.

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Incorporated manufactures and markets an array of test products for clinical diagnostics and life sciences research. The company holds its headquarters in Hercules, California. The company’s revenue during 2006 almost reached $1.3 billion.
