QuickVue Test Selected by Roche

Clinical Lab Products notes that Roche plans to utilized the QuickVue rapid flu test for the 2008-2009 FluStar surveillance program. The brand Influenza A+B will be employed in more than 400 doctor offices across the country.

This test provides diagnostic information as to whether or not patients are infected with influenza within ten minutes or less. The test is highly accurate and rapid turnaround of test results supports clinicians while assessing patients for infection.

The FluStar program is a surveillance network program that was initiated in 1999 by Roche. The program is dedicated to tracking the incidence of flu across the season.

Information on rates of flu is posted on the program website, FluStar.com. Additional data is shared in the form of posters and abstracts presented at an array of different meetings for the medical community.
