Rapid IHC Test System Introduced
The new WaveTM system was launched at the United States and Canada Academy of Pathology (USCAP). The system is from Celerus Diagnostics and the launch was described on the company’s website.
The WaveTM can produce results from immunohistochemistry (IHC) tests in as little as 15 minutes. As such, the system increases lab throughput, fosters intraoperative testing, and can provide results from testing in real-time to clinicians. Company executives further suggest that the system can improve the care experience for patients by reducing the time before lab results are ready for clinician review.
The WaveTM incorporates Celerus’s patented Dynamic Replenishment Technology, which repeatedly opens and closes slide segments. This creates kinetic waves which vigorously mix and refresh the reagents used to process specimens. The active recharging approach floods antigenic sites on the tissue continuously with new waves of both primary and secondary reagents. This analysis method fosters more efficient and faster binding. The result is that IHC results can be available in as few as 15 minutes.
Celerus is a rapid cancer diagnostics company based in California. The goal of the organization is to improve the diagnostic capabilities in the pathology laboratory. Various tools available from the company allow decentralization of the testing process. This also allows testing and results to be moved closer to the point-of-care, allowing real-time decision making based on test results.
