Remote Monitor Incorporates Mobile Phone Technology

A new telehealth system to support at home monitoring of patients with chronic health conditions was launched by RTX Medical. The unique feature of the system is use of GSM/GPRS technology for mobile phones, as described in the press release issued by the company.

The new system, the RTX3371 GSM/GPRS Telehealth Monitor wirelessly collects the vital signs monitored with other external monitoring devices. Also collected is information that patients complete in questionnaires. One advantage of this system is that it can be used with a variety of different front end systems, from different manufacturers.

Data is then transmitted to either a disease management company’s system for clinical information or the system integrator. Vital signs that are collected with this system include blood pressure, peak flow, ECG, blood coagulation, weight, blood glucose, SpO2, and other key states.

The company notes that including the wireless phone system technologies was the next natural step in product development. Additionally noted is that the systems are intuitive, making them simple to use for the elderly or persons with chronic health conditions.

The company specializes in the development of systems for remote monitoring. The goal of RTX is to become the premier provider of telemonitoring systems.
