Resource Management During Outbreaks Launched

Clinical Solutions launched a new program, Bio Surveillance, that supports management and resource utilization during epidemics or disease outbreaks. The company issued a press release detailing the launch.

The tool includes a variety of different algorithms to help guide preparation and response efforts required for emergency preparedness. The tools, first, provide the capability to monitor for infectious outbreaks.

Early identification enables proactive containment efforts, which are also supported by the software. It additionally tracks activity during an epidemic, monitoring incidence through real-time reporting and providing tools for analysis.

In addition to identifying outbreaks, the tool is designed to triage patients as well as identify where healthcare practitioners are most needed. The Bio Surveillance program supports overall emergency management planning from a healthcare or public health perspective.

The system is web-based. This supports updating information in real-time and reporting of clinical information by multiple users simultaneously. The design also enables use from multiple locations at the same time.

The Bio Surveillance program was tested at Exercise Cumpston, a pandemic influenza exercise. The health simulation exercise was held in Australia, the largest of its kind in that country.
