Transplant Compatibility Tool from Invitrogen Approved

The new DynaChip Antibody Analysis System from Invitrogen Corporation was approved by the Food and Drug Administration for marketing clearance. The approval was noted on the company’s website in a press release. The DynaChip system is designed to automate detection of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) antibody detection.

The tool incorporates all the software, reagents, and instrumentation in a fully integrated system to automate and detect HLA antibodies. The system includes three different components: a processor, protein array, and interpretation software.

Benefits of this system include a shortened turn around time to complete assessment of HLA compatibility. An additional advantage is reducing the number of tests that are required to complete HLA evaluation.

The chip-based tool is the only such automated system currently available for market in the U.S. HLA identification is a key component of determining organ transplant compatibility with respect to matching.

The company was also recently received six different awards for the life sciences from the Life Sciences Industry Awards. The six categories included cell culture media and reagents, most responsive customer service, most useful website, most memorable print advertisements, most knowledgeable technical support, and cell biology kits and reagents. This is the fourth consecutive year that Invitrogen received acknowledgement by that organization.
