RadarFind Location System Tracks Temperature
The new Real Time Location System (RTLS) launched by RadarFind incorporates temperature sensing along with RFID tools. The added feature to monitor temperature can further leverage system utility to protect patient safety and control equipment costs.
The company’s RadarFind tags include a high precision temperature-to-voltage converter. This includes an embedded MicroChip Technology TC1046 temperature sensor. The company has worked with this technology for over three years to gather information about the health of systems. Based on this information, the tool is now being offered to hospitals.
The Microchip is highly accurate and sensitive. It is suitable for a wide range of temperatures and has low levels of power consumption. These features make it suitable for the proposed application.
RadarFind is developing collaborations with healthcare facilities to determine the ideal application to incorporate this temperature sensing capability. Potential custom applications include monitoring laboratory specimens and refrigeration systems for pharmacies. Cooling systems are required to have ongoing monitoring, and sometimes documentation, of temperature to ensure the patency of items stored.
The RTLS system available from the company was described on HospitalBuyer following its initial release.
