Acoustic Respiratory Monitoring Technology Validated

Three recent studies document the potential superiority of Masimo’s Acoustic Respiratory Monitoring (ARM) technology for tracking respiration among patients breathing spontaneously.

The proposed monitoring approach entails application of an adhesive sensor to a patient’s neck which is then connected to a breathing frequency monitor prototype. The monitor was compared to capnometry monitoring via nasal cannula. One of the key benefits noted was ease of device use and ability to monitor continuously; nasal cannula were frequently dislodged. ARM also produced reliable data on respiration.

The company plans to integrate ARM with its products to monitor pulse oximetry.
