Collaboration Forms to Monitor Vital Signs

EncounterCare Solutions, Incorporated and AuthentiDate Holding Corporation have formed a joint venture to provide patients with in home solutions to monitor vital signs. The joint entity, ExpressMD Solutions, will create patient vital signs monitoring systems that are used in patients’ homes. The company is dedicated to support of preventative care and patient wellness.

The companies plan to leverage their mutual tools to develop the systems, with the goal of reducing healthcare costs. Costs can be better managed by providing clinicians with rapid access to ongoing data about a patient’s condition. An additional goal of the new collaboration is to improve the continuity of care.

EncounterCare develops services and technology designed for the needs of home healthcare. AuthentiDate provides information technology solutions, including workflow management and web-based tools.

EncounterCare has an existing system, Electronic House Call, that monitors patient’s vital signs. This will be modified to include monitoring and management software systems that can be accessed using the internet. Those will be available from using the Inscrybe Healthcare platform from AuthentiDate. Incorporation of these systems will allow submission of patient data to clinicians wirelessly.

The need for telehealth monitoring systems is expected to grow exponentially. Research published earlier this year indicates that the market may be worth as much as $12 billion by the year 2012.
