Cerner Transfusion Software Ready for the Market

Cerner Corporation’s software, Transfusion Administration and Specimen Collection, is ready for purchasing having just received clearance (pdf) from the FDA. The system links directly with the company’s Cerner Bridge Medical program, a point-of-care suite.

The new software integrates wireless networking, barcode scanning, and clinical systems to complete patient identification tasks at the bedside. This is a particularly crucial element during transfusion administration. The sytem offers up to six checkpoints and guides nurses through the delivery of blood products.

The system also collects data as required for patient records. The goal of the software is to reduce errors, improve efficiency, and minimize the time required to complete documentation.
