Qualcomm Launches Mobile Health Network

In a move to join the healthcare industry, wireless technology corporation Qualcomm created LifeComm and founded the Wireless-Life Sciences Alliance.

The company already has partnerships with medical device manufacturers, pairing monitoring technology with its wireless system to transmit data to healthcare providers.

The newest collaboration for LifeComm will integrate wireless technology with tools to monitor chronic health conditions. The ongoing plans include redesigning mobile phones to monitor health conditions, such as blood glucose in diabetics or aerobic activity in patients who are dieting.

Current plans to launch the system are shooting for 2008.
