Radiation Therapy System Approved
The ARTISTE Solution from Siemens Medical Solutions has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The system is a linear accelerator that is designed for use with Adaptive Radiation Therapy (ART). Siemens issued a press release describing the approval.
ARTISTE is an integrated workflow and imaging solution intended to provide a complete portfolio for treatment delivery protocols, including those which are image guided or advanced. This system allows clinicians to utilize multiple imaging modalities.
The ARTISTE system also incorporates the comprehensive software solution from Siemens, the syngo Suite for Oncology. This platform provides a scalable workspace which allows clinical staff to easily access patient information, images, and data.
The ARTISTE system supports rapid and powerful 3D MV and CT high-contrast imaging as tools to monitor changes in anatomy to ensure optimal treatment delivery. This enables high-leaf speed, low leakage, and improved tumor conformity. The system design incorporates those components known to ensure precise treatment delivery.
Clinicians are able, then, to use the ideal approach to treat each individual patient, such as the MVision Cone Beam Imaging Package or the CTVision CT-on-rails system.
