TCM Releases RFID Medication System

The Corporate Machine (TCM) unveiled its new medication system that uses RFID to promote appropriate drug delivery and improved patient safety.

The solution is designed to efficiently operate with an electronic medical records system and RFID tags on patient wristbands and drug bottles. Healthcare providers access the integrated system with handheld mobile devices.

The system, Intelli-MDS (intelligent-medicine dispensing system) includes three separate modules for stages of drug delivery:

  • Physicians: Links to a patient’s medical record. The doctor can add new prescription orders and update patient information,
  • Pharmacist: Fill drug requests by scanning drug bottles to verify correct medication, and
  • Dispensing: Nurses administering drugs are guided through a five-point verfication by Intelli-MDs to ensure delivery of appropriate therapy.

The system is available throughout southeast Asia, with a particular emphasis on the market in Singapore. That country is in the midst of promoting a nationwide EMR system to include all citizens.
