Wireless Telemetry Monitoring System Launched

A new wireless system for patient telemetry monitoring, the Envoy PDM, was released by DRE, Incorporated. The new system can be carried by healthcare providers around a hospital unit. Vital signs for up to six patients can be monitored simultaneously, as stated in the press release about the product launch.

The device, in appearance, is similar to a 15-inch computer monitor flat screen. A touch screen is incorporated, negating the need for a keyboard. This also creates a monitoring system with a smaller footprint. All the components are included in this slim unit.

The new monitoring system was designed to simply integrate with the Waveline Plus, also from DRE, a seven-parameter patient monitor. Data on patient vital signs is sent to the new Envoy through a wireless transmitter attached to the individual Waveline monitors attached to each patient. This transmitter set up allows patients to be monitored across time, such as before surgery to the operating room and into the post-operative suite using this one system.

The Envoy PDM is a patient telemetry system as well as a patient management system. Clinicians can compile information into a database on their patients, including demographics, medications, medical history, and patient treatment. This facilitates comparison of ongoing monitoring data on individual patients.
