Affiliated Computer Services Nets Deal with UMass
University of Massachusetts (UMass) Memorial Health Care, Incorporated signed a contract with Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), Incorporated. Under this agreement, ACS will provide information technology services, as described in the press release from ACS.
The new contract is an extension of an existing six-year contract between the two. With this new contract, ACS will provide additional support for the healthcare system such as data storage and server deployment. The iteration of such will be determined by the needs of the health system.
In addition, ACS will also provide UMass Memorial with data systems, desktop support, telecommunications, resource planning services, networking, help desk, data center hosting, and disaster recovery. UMass will continue responsibility for oversight of the system’s own applications. ACS, alternatively, will oversee the systems’ IT infrastructure.
UMass Memorial is a five-hospital care delivery system. The contract will extend over a five year period and is estimated to be worth $100 million.
