Amalga Wins More Contracts
Microsoft Corporation’s Amalga system has been implemented at two more institutions, Seattle Children’s Hospital and the University of Washington Institute of Translational Health Sciences. Specific tools planned for use at both facilities include the data aggregation and integration software, the news was posted by Health Data Management. Seattle Children’s expects that this tool will grant healthcare providers with a real-time consolidated view of patient information procured from multiple databases. The tool will also be utilized to identify trends, as well as patients who may be appropriate candidates for clinical trials participation. An additional proposed use of the tool is management of hospital operations, such as estimating length of patient stay.
University of Washington’s Institute, alternatively, plans to utilize the system as a means to improve research endeavors. One benefit includes expediting the delivery of data sets to researchers. Amalga system software will extract data from the electronic health records at the University. Other potential data sources include study data management systems and laboratory research systems.
