CMS Contract Awarded to Northrop Grumman

Northrop Grumman Corporation received a task order to provide services for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which was described on the Northrop site. The contract is through the Enterprise System Development (ESD) contract from CMS. The task order awarded include an initial base year and four additional years that are optional; it is valued at $36.5 million.

The ESD program provides contracts over a ten year period and $4 billion of indefinite quantity and indefinite delivery. The ESD contract was initially awarded to the Information Technology (IT) sector of Northrop Grumman in 2007.

The deal calls for Northrop Grumman to deliver computer software services for the Medicare Beneficiary Database Suite of Systems (MBDSS). This system supports a unified authoritative source for demographic data of Medicare beneficiaries that supports ongoing collection of information about program recipients.

Included in that is maintenance of the system and system enhancements. These efforts will help CMS to optimize the computer resources through performance enhancements and improvements to functionality.
