Dilon Technologies Scores Contract with Amerinet

Dilon Technologies, a company that manufactures gamma imaging systems, signed a contract with Amerinet, a group purchasing organization. The deal will provide Amerinet members with access to the company’s 6800 Gamma Camera over a three year period.

The 6800 Gamma Camera is indicated to detect the presence of very early stage breast cancer. This is completed with molecular breast imaging through Breast-Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI). The system requires injection of a radioactive tracer. Malignant cells absorb a higher rate of the tracer due to increased metabolic activity.

This technique is not effected by the dense breast tissue, which complicates assessment with traditional mammography. This tool is indicated as a complement to breast examination with either ultrasound or mammography for women who are difficult to diagnose.
