GE Scores Contract with Canada Health
GE Healthcare Canada completed a contract for a preferred solution agreement with Canada Health Infoway. GE will provide a diagnostic imaging repository (DI-r) and the Centricity PACS system. Completion of the deal was described by Health Imaging News.
The agreement calls for the provision of services across the entire country. Key components of the agreement include preferential pricing for those areas that incorporate a shared service. The sharing calls for several hospitals to utilize a common PACS and DI-r infrastructure.
In addition, GE must comply with the pan-Canadian standards. Those cover both privacy and security requirements. Infoway has additional requirements which must be met by vendors. Requirements include an understanding of the Canadian electronic health record and the adoption of standards to support interoperability.
Canada Health Infoway has made significant investments in diagnostic imaging processes. Those projects cover eight different Canadian provinces and one territory.
