Idaho HIE Selects Axoltol to Link Clinicians

A news release issued by Axolotl Corporation indicates that a contract was completed by the organization with the Idaho Health Data Exchange (IHDE). This is the first HIE for the western State.

Over 1500 physicians, 30 hospitals, and ten reference laboratories across the State will utilize the Elysium Exchange technology from Axolotl. This will enable those parties to share information in real time.

Also incorporated into the new system will be the Clinical Messaging technology from the IT organization. This tool specifically supports linking and sharing information in a secure manner. Importantly, this does not compromise ownership of data, format, or the location of such.

The IHDE is a collaboration that includes health insurance companies, state residents, and healthcare providers. This effort was directed by the State’s Health Quality Planning Commission.

That group was charged with development of a health information technology system; which resulted in creation of the IHDE. Requirements for such included flexibility, uniform, statewide, and interoperability.

The IHDE implemented the Axolotl product because this system supports rapid implementation of the health information exchange. The collaborative also noted the company’s expertise in the area.
