Infection Control Solution Adopted at Sharp
SharpHealthcare in San Diego plans to deploy an infection control and reporting system from Premier, Inc at five of the organization’s hospitals. The solution planned for implementation is Premier’s own SafetySurveillor according to the press release issued by Premier.
SafetySurveillor is a web-based application. This software allows assessment of clinical data from an array of different information systems utilized in the healthcare setting. Analysis of that information is used to seek data trends which suggest potential infection development by one or more patients.
Detection of these trends causes the system to issue an alert to appropriate infection control or patient safety personnel. An additional feature supported includes local and state reporting requirements, as well as benchmark analysis.
The five hospitals that will implement the system include Mary Birch Hospital for Women, Coronado Hospital, Chula Vista Medical Center, Grossmont Hospital, and Sharp Memorial. The goal of system implementation is to both prevent and track the occurrence of hospital-acquired infections and optimize the use of antibiotic therapies.
