InnerWireless Partners with Platte Valley Medical

Platte Valley Medical Center signed a deal with InnerWireless, Inc. to use the Horizon wireless system throughout the extensive hospital campus, which spans 50 acres, opening next month.

Horizon offers wireless coverage ideally equipped for the hospital setting. This includes WiFi, two-way radio, VoIP, first-responder communication, and paging capabilities. The system entails a complex wireless solution with multiple interoperable applications.

Another component of the Horizon system adopted is wireless medical telemetry service (WTMS). This solution permits ongoing monitoring of patients’ vital signs from any location within the hospital wirelessly. This is a particularly beneficial feature during patient transport.

Other technology applications from InnerWireless were integrated into the soon to open facility. Among those are WiFi access in patient rooms. The facility also adopted a wireless paging system.

A final integration piece is interoperability with first responder communication systems that use two-way radios. This is key for hospitals post September 11th.
