UVA Health System Implements MEDHOST
The University of Virginia Health System announced that they will be implementing the Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) from MEDHOST. The goal of system is to reduce the waiting time for patients and improve patient safety.
The system will be linked with the existing hospital information system (HIS) already in use, a product from GE Healthcare. The new tool from MEDHOST will also easily integrate with other IT systems used across the hospital.
The EDIS system was designed to serve as a risk and communication solution. Further, it was especially created to deliver services at the point of care and enhance revenue generation with improved documentation. UVA is specifically interested in the benefits of the system for security of patient information.
The ability to track patient medical records electronically can support automation of tasks in the emergency room setting. It also supports more rapid access to records. The touch screen system simplifies access to records and information.
Over 160 different facilities across the United States have implemented MEDHOST system tools. The company offers process management technology to support the healthcare industry.
