XIMIS Offered Purchase Deal from Philips
Royal Philips Electronics announced that they intend to purchase XIMIS, Incorporated; terms of the deal were not shared publicly. The deal is planned for completion in the third quarter of 2007. Plans were detailed in a press release issued by Philips.
XIMIS offers next generation radiology information systems (RIS), which will be integrated with the product line already owned by Philips. The primary product from XIMIS is XIRIS, (eXtended Internet Radiology Information System). This product is a web-based RIS system which can be implemented to scale, meeting the individual of the facility’s needs, from a community hospital to a larger system with multiple facilities. In addition, the XIRIS product includes multilingual and international solutions.
Elements to facilitate workflow comprised in the XIRIS system include elements for direct patient care such as scheduling, patient registration, and exam tracking. Resource and staff management are additionally supported. The system further generates statistical information and report generation to support streamlined workflow and reduced errors in radiology.
XIMIS will be integrated into the Healthcare Informatics group in the Medical Systems Division at Philips. In particular, Philips plans to leverage the acquisition to develop an integrated RIS-PACS product. XIRIS is a complement to the existing PACS product offered by Philips, iSite. The overall goal of the acquisition, according to Philips, is to strengthen the organization’s presence in the healthcare information technology market.
