Chinese-Based Linear Accelerator Manufacturer Purchased
TomoTherapy announced plans to acquire Chengdu Twin Peak Accelerator Technology, a privately held company that manufactures linear accelerators. A news release was posted on the TomoTherapy site to describe the agreement completed between the two organizations.
The financial considerations of the deal were not shared publicly. It is anticipated that the deal will be finalized within ninety days.
TomoTherapy designed and manufactures the Hi-Art treatment system; it is used to deliver advanced radiation therapy. The systems acquired from Twin Peak will be used to expand systems that support the TomoTherapy supply source.
Company executives from TomoTherapy note that the acquisition will improve the company’s ability to control both the features and quality of products manufactured. An additional benefit noted is the opportunity to reduce TomoTherapy’s costs to manufacture the Hi-Art systems and reduce margins for the company.
