Dixtal Biomedica e Tecnologia Acquired

Royal Philips Electronics announced their plans to purchase Brazil-based Dixtal Biomedica e Tecnologia. The terms of the deal were not shared publicly. News of the planned merger was announced on the Health Imaging website.

Dixtal manufactures patient monitoring system for use in the hospital, along with ventilation and anaesthesia equipment and electrocardiogram tools to monitor vital signs. The company is privately held and current headquartered in Sao Paulo.

Following completion of the merger, Dixtal will be integrated with Philips’s existing Patient Monitoring business. Executives from Philips note the significant opportunities available to increase revenue by tapping into emerging markets, such as Latin America. An additional benefit of the acquisition is the opportunity to further expand the company’s line of critical care products.
