Metrologic Purchased by Honeywell

Metrologic Instruments, developer of technology for barcode scanners, will be purchased by Honeywell. The purchase price is $720 million, according to the press release published by Metrologic.

Metrologic provides imaging and laser barcode scanners for clients around the world. This includes linear and omni-directional laser scanners, as well as in-counter and fixed positions scanners, mobile computers, and area imagers. More than 65 percent of the company’s clients are outside the U.S.

Metrologic will be integrated into the Imaging and Mobility component of the Honeywell Security business, which Honeywell purchased last year. That segment of Honeywell manufactures handheld products such as mobility and imaging solutions.

Honeywell executives note that the acquisition of Metrologic will support the company’s goal of maintaining its position as a leader in the field of dynamic enterprise mobility and imaging.
