NCR Gets Into Healthcare Self-Service with Galvanon Acquisition

NCR Corp, already a strong player in bank ATMs and other self-service devices in industries such as travel, fast food and retail, today announced it is acquiring privately held company Galvanon, Inc. Founded less than four years ago, Galvanon has about 70 employees and a roster of 50+clients such as Providence Health Systems or Baylor Health Care System. Its purpose is to improve the “patient experience” by smoothing their interactions with the healthcare system with reduced paperwork and wait times. Benefits touted to hospitals, clinics and doctors include reduced administrative costs, improved relations with patients, and increased patient throughput.
