Revolution and Waterfront Plan to Merge

A new collaboration for the online world of healthcare was announced with the completion of a merger agreement between Revolution Health Network and Waterfront Media. RevolutionHealth.com will be rolled into the Everyday Health Network from Waterfront. The combined resources will create the largest online healthcare community, creating some significant competition for WebMD.

Preliminary projections unveiled suggest that the combined viewership will yield around 20 million unique users. In addition, the entity will lead the market with respect to 23 different health conditions.

The deal already procured unanimous approvals from both organizations. The Waterfront Media name will be maintained following completion of the merger. All websites operating under its auspices will be in the Everyday Health Network. The combined total of health properties between the two organizations is 24.

Some of the better known sites owned by Waterfront include WhatToExpect.com and SouthBeachDiet.com, along with theĀ  EverydayHealth.com site. The combined goal of the sites is to promote better health through access to support, tools, and information online.

Revolution Health was initially launched in 2007, as reported on HospitalBuyer. Steve Case, CEO and Chairman of Revolution Health, will join the Waterfront Media Board of Directors. Mr. Case is well known as the founder of America Online.
