VersaMed Purchased by GE
GE Healthcare completed the acquisition of VersaMed. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by the company. The compendium of products available from VersaMed will support GE’s efforts to expand their line of tools for respiratory care management. News of the completed contract was posted on the GE Healthcare website.
A range of different life support ventilators to suit an array of patients and care settings existing in the VersaMed line will become available through GE with this new deal. These products complement the existing product line from GE Healthcare. GE Healthcare’s Clinical Systems business provides technologies for respiratory care. Integrating the devices available from both companies will expand the complementary services and product offerings.
VersaMed specializes in the development of critical care ventilators for respiratory care support. The company’s flagship project is their iVent201 ventilator. This is an intensive care-grade ventilator that is both portable and compact designed for use in sub-acute and acute care settings, as well as during emergency transport and at patient’s homes. A number of federal and state agencies have this device for use in emergency and pandemic planning programs.
