Vialog Purchased by McKesson
Vivalog LLC, a company that specializes in the development of web-based solutions, was recently purchased by McKesson. The terms of the deal were not detailed in the press release issued by McKesson.
The purchase will include acquisition of MyPACS.net, which is a medical imaging reference site which contains the largest collection of teaching files available online. This system allows radiologists, cardiologists, and other clinicians reviewing imaging studies to share and organize images procured along with reference case information.
Benefits of the Vivalog system include a fully integrated reference case management solution. Additional capabilities support means to capture and share knowledge. This tool provides staff members with access to related imaging studies and peers’ knowledge, creating a rich, multimedia knowledge repository. These features can save radiologists time by eliminating unnecessary tests and supporting communication between diagnosticians.
The company’s range of products included in the deal will expand the resources from McKesson available to support hospital imaging and information management systems. Those include the addition of clinical conferencing capabilities along with reference case management tools. Collectively, these features support the development of multimedia knowledge repositories to support diagnosis, research, and training.
