Strategic Partnership Formed Between Proventys and McKesson

McKesson and Proventys announced that they will partner together, forming a new strategic relationship (pdf). Preliminary plans include integrating risk prediction tools from Proventys into the core clinical decision support tools from McKesson.

Proventys develops these tools by translating predictive data collected from both emerging and traditional diagnostic tests. Data is collected, for example, from genomics, metabolomics, and proteomics. This information is then leveraged to develop clinical support decision tools with information from individual patients.

McKesson executives cite the products of their partnership with Proventys as tools that will support the next generation of medical care. Also noted is the increasingly broad amount of information available to clinicians as they engage in decision making. Tools, such as the one proposed herein, will support such and are amenable to the growing input of more data. The tools will also support development of personalized medicine.

Proventys specializes in predictive medicine, which considers personalized risk assessment. The goal of this approach is to prevent the occurrence of disease. This approach can reduce the costs of care as disease is prevented; patients and clinicians have more opportunities to make decisions proactively.
