Urgent Care Assoc and Joint Commission Form Partnership

The Joint Commission announced that a partnership with the Urgent Care Association of America has been formed. The goal of the collaboration is to ensure that urgent care clinics provide high quality care.

Planned activities include the development of standards for quality as they relate to the urgent care setting. It is planned that these new standards will be launched in 2010.

Accreditation is already completed for urgent care centers by both the Joint Commission and the Urgent Care Association. This new partnership will eliminate accreditation by the Urgent Care Association. Instead, efforts will support urgent care centers available through the ambulatory care accreditation program at the Commission.

The Urgent Care Association is an international organization. Facilities from the United States participate, as well as others in Israel and Ireland.
