COO of Medtronic Resigns
Michael DeMane, Chief Operating Office (COO) of Medtronic announced his resignation this week, this is effective immediately. The announcement coincided with a number of other change in management for the device maker. The company issued a press release describing the organizational changes.
DeMane only served in this post for an eight month period. Mr. DeMane also oversaw the company’s Spinal and Biologics Unit, which is based in Memphis. The company stated that Mr. DeMane has moved on to other opportunities. At this point, he will not be replaced.
The new reporting structure calls for each of the global business unit presidents to report directly to the Medtronic CEO and President, William A. Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was promoted to this post last year while holding the position of COO. The promotion took place after the CEO at that time, Arthur D. Collins, decided to retire.
A number of other leadership changes also occurred. Jean-Luc Butel was appointed as the Senior Vice President and President of Medtronic International. In that post, he will oversee all of the company’s operations outside the U.S.
Katie Szyman was named Senior Vice President of the Strategy and Development Group, which was recently created. She previously served as the Vice President of the company’s endovascular unit. James Dallas was appointed the Senior Vice President of Quality and Operations. A number of other changes were included in the release from the company.
