CTO Named by Aetna
Aetna announced the appointment of the first Chief Technology Officer for the organization, Michael G. Mathias. He will also serve as the vice president for the organization.
In this new post, he will oversee the alignment of technology vision with business strategy. This entails utilizing company technologies to link with various processes used in the system. He will additionally oversee the development and implementation of technology programs throughout Aetna.
Mr. Mathias initially joined Aetna in 1993, serving as a systems engineering manager. He helped oversee a number of different strategic technology initiatives. He also held the post of key technical architect for the healthcare company.
In 2006, Mr. Mathias took on the role of head of technology architecture and strategy. In 2007, he moved on to assume responsibility for enterprise architecture.
