Elsevier Names Chief

Elsevier Health Sciences named a new Chief Executive Officer, Michael Hansen. Mr. Hansen’s appointment was effective June 9th. Health Data Management posted news of the transition.

Mr. Hansen is succeeding Brian Nairn. Mr. Nairn is retiring from his post as CEO, but will stay on with Elsevier for a transition period as Mr. Hansen takes over.

Mr. Hansen worked most recently with Harcourt Assessment, Incorporated. He served as the CEO for the testing materials publisher. Harcourt used to be one of the companies under the Elsevier family of companies umbrella, but was recently purchased by Pearson plc.

Mr. Hansen also held the post of executive vice president for Bertelsmann publishing firm, as well a a partner with The Boston Consulting Group based in New York.
