New CEO Named by Bausch & Lomb
Gerald Ostrov has been appointed as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bausch & Lomb. Mr. Ostrov wil replace Ronald Zarrella, who is retiring. The company issued a press release about Mr. Ostrov’s appointment.
Mr. Ostrov started the position immediately. He previously held the post at Johnson & Johnson’s vision care business, which rivals the Bausch & Lomb business. He stepped down from that post in 2006 to pursue other ventures.
Mr. Ostrov initially joined Johnson & Johnson 1976. In 1982, he left the organization to pursue opportunities with Ciba-Geigy AG. He then returned to Johnson & Johnson in 1991 in a role to oversee the company’s personal products division.
Mr. Zarella initially took on the post of Chief Executive Office and Chairman at Bausch & Lomb in 2001. Though he is retiring from this post, he will remain with the company as the Chairman Emeritus.
Bausch and Lomb has undergone some significant changes over the past few months. The company was recently acquired by Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm as posted on HospitalBuyer.
