AHRMM Launches Supply Chain Survey

The 2008 National Healthcare Executive Survey is currently underway. The effort is spearheaded by the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) at the Marquette University College of Business Administration Center.

The goal of the survey is to assess the perceptions of hospital executives regarding the importance of supply chain management. A secondary goal of the survey is to determine the current issues and goals related to supply chain management in the healthcare industry.

AHRMM will be disseminating the survey via email among hospital CEOs, CFOs, COOs, and leaders from healthcare supply chain organizations for another week. Data collected will be utilized to capture the priorities, goals, and performance of supply chain management. One intent of the program is to provide hospital executives with the opportunity to make improvements, as well as optimizing the supply chain.

AHRMM recognizes the overall role of supply chain on both financial and clinical performance of hospitals. As such, a collaborative assessment of the system can help multiple organizations with different missions better achieve their goals.

A survey similar to this was completed in 2007. Data from that effort will be presented in July at the AHRMM08 Annual Conference & Exhibition and also at the Health Forum/American Hospital Association Leadership Summit. Data presented, importantly, will capture the viewpoints of supply chain leaders and compare those to healthcare executives.
