SCMetrix Gains Momentum
Efforts within the healthcare community to create a benchmarking system for supply chain performance are growing. The Association for Healthcare Resources and Materials Management (AHRMM) reports that a new system for benchmarking has gained support from a number of respected healthcare systems across the country, as posted on the Association’s website.
SCMetrix is a benchmarking and performance metrics tool that was developed through a partnership between AHRMM and Arizona State University (ASU). The system evaluates various factors related to benchmarking supply chain performance, such as scope of service, size, geographic location, and procedure.
It is designed to allow facilities to compare their own performance both within and outside the system and can complete longitudinal assessments. As well, data can be leveraged to improve facilities performance. The overall intent of SCMetrix is to support healthcare supply chain performance analysis.
A number of new health systems have committed their facilities’ data to be used with the SCMetrix program. Those include:
- United States Military Health Systems,
- HCA Nashville Supply Chain Services,
- University of Kentucky Medical Center,
- WellSpan Health System in York, Pennsylvania,
- Scottsdale Healthcare,
- Texas Health Resources, and
- Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, among others.
The goal of the collaborative is to complete commitments from 100 different hospitals by next month. Secure commitments from different organizations will facilitate growth and utility of this system.
