Guidelines for Electronic Record Acquisition
The American Health Information Management Association published an article in the June issue of the organization’s journal, which offers guidance on procuring information, evaluatingĀ and acquiring an electronic health records system.
It details means to identify companies with relevant products, such as comprehensive guides that list vendors. The guide also details the type of request organizations should submit to vendors and items to be included therein.
Other considerations described include the need to procure the support of other organizational parties who will be involved with records deployment, use, and maintenance. This is critical during system evaluationt to assure that the needs of all parties will be addressed.
