KLAS Ranks Digital Mammography Systems
KLAS released their first-ever Digital Mammography Report. The new study evaluates the successes and hurdles faced by healthcare facilities as they implement digital mammography systems from different vendors.
The KLAS report assessed systems based on user feedback in the digital mammography market. A survey was completed by KLAS to evaluate currently implemented systems which included radiology managers or directors, chief technicians, and mammography directors and managers.
The report notes that there are only a few organizations that have FDA approval for their full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems. A number of new systems will soon be available to the market. The systems that were assessed include products from Hologic, Siemens Medical Solutions, and GE Healthcare. Early data assessing the Fujifilm Medical Systems US was also included.
The data was utilized to tabulate an overall performance score for each of the vendors. Scores were created for a number of different factors: service, success, business, and product/technology. The highest ranked system is from GE, while Hologic came in a close second. Both organizations received the top marks for client satisfaction in the areas of implementation, product quality, sales/contracting, and post sales support.
The digital mammography field is experiencing tremendous growth, so the narrow options available for healthcare facilities are somewhat surprising. KLAS notes that this growth is expected to continue growing rapidly in digital mammography market over the next few years.
