State Contract Awarded to Philips Medical Systems
Philips Medical System won a contract with the California Association for Health Services at Home (CAHSAH) to serve as a group contractor for the acquisition of telehealth services and products.
The contract calls for provision of complete services to support telehealth programming for all members of CAHSAH. Services delineated include wireless telemonitoring measurement devices, web-based assignment tools, robust and validated clinical content, innovative pricing models, and wide-ranging service delivery and support after program implementation.
CAHSAH cites an interest in expanding telehealth programs as a means to address some of the issues faced by the home healthcare industry, such as shortage of home health providers, patient compliance with care recommendations, and productivity of staff. Such programs have the potential to improve ongoing monitoring of patients who live far from healthcare providers, support early interventions, and decrease the need for emergency care.
CAHSAH is the largest organization in California dedicated to home care services and, too, is the largest such organization in the United States. Over 400 providers are represented by CAHSAH. The Association is dedicated to ensuring that home healthcare recipients received the highest quality care possible.
Philips has an exiting line of products for telehealth applications that creates a means for information exchange. Key components of the product line include devices to monitor patients’ health status at home and software to submit the information to the healthcare provider. Motiva is Philips’s interactive healthcare platform that uses a patient’s television for remote management of patients. The solutions are flexible enough to provide means to effectively monitor a variety of health conditions.
