CardioDigital Assets Purchased by Covidien

CardioDigital, Incorporated sold a number of the company’s assets to Covidien. Covidien is acquiring the CardioDigital, technology for advanced signal processing used in patient monitoring. This system will be integrated into the Respiratory and Monitoring Solutions business at Covidien.

The purchase was made to allow Covidien to expand the patient monitoring business. The company believes that the technology will enable improvements to patient monitoring systems, which will improve patient safety and care.

The technology will specifically complement the Nellcor pulse oximetry solution. Covidien further hopes that the technology will allow improvements to other systems in the future.
