Eclipsys to Acquire Sysware

In a transaction expected to close in early July, Eclipsys Corporation today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the business of Sysware Healthcare Systems, Inc., including its related software development organization in India. The acquirer already had a strategic agreement with the acquired company to remarket its PowerLAB laboratory information system (LIS) as Sunrise Laboratory Manager, a module within the Eclipsys suite. PowerLAB is a Windows application that supports all laboratory disciplines such as General Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology, Histology, Anatomic Pathology, Cytology, Serology, or Microbiology.

The 130 or so current Sysware employees in America and India are expected to become Eclipsys employees. Financial terms were not disclosed.
