Emerson Acquires Flo Healthcare

Emerson announced today it has acquired Flo Healthcare, a provider of wireless and mobile clinical workstation solutions to the healthcare industry. Flo Healthcare will become part of Emerson Storage Solutions’ InterMetro division. The acquired company’s products embed wireless computers in mobile medical carts. The idea behind these products is to let nurses and doctors work within a “closed loop” to reduce error chances when medication is given to patients. Some Flo products also give clinicians access to imaging archives. Flo Healthcare has sold more than 45,000 mobile devices in about 800 hospitals in the US and Canada. Emerson is a large diversified industrial company whose InterMetro division was already selling into healthcare among other industries.
